• Revised version, By Bikram Choudhury
• Every Bikram yoga student should have a copy of this book! The 26 postures and two breathing exercises in Bikram's brilliant hatha yoga series are each given their own chapter. Each chapter consists first of a mini-lecture -- nonstop, Choudhury chatter with you and your classmates that educates as well as entertains -- then the instructions for each pose, and a quick list of the Benefits to be derived specifically from that pose.
• But the most important feature -- the part of this book that quickly distinguishes it from all others -- is that you are given two versions of the steps of each pose: the "Ideal" and the "Reality." The Ideal is accompanied by photographs and runs across the top half of every page. It is how you will eventually do the pose. The Reality, illustrated with photos and commentary, runs along the bottom half of the page. This is how normal people, perhaps a trifle overweight and out of shape, will feel and perform the first days, weeks, or months. Follow the exercises in order, exactly as Bikram directs, and you won't go wrong.
